We can highly recommend Get Married in Denmark to any international couple planning to get married in Denmark. We got married in Copenhagen in Frederiksberg Town Hall, which is less busy and super sweet. The entire process was incredibly smooth and stress-free. The team handled almost everything for us, so there was very little we needed to do ourselves. Communication was always fast, clear, and trustworthy, which gave us a lot of confidence throughout the process. We felt supported every step of the way and knew we were in good hands. If you’re considering getting married in Denmark, adding their service is absolutely worth it. Thank you for making our experience so easy and enjoyable. Getting Married in Roskilde is a great option for those couples who are happy to travel for a short distance outside the capital city of Copenhagen. It is close enough that the travel time does not impede too much on your time in Denmark, yet far enough away to feel like an adventure!

Why Get Married in Roskilde?

You may have already heard of Roskilde as it hosts the very famous Roskilde Music Festival each year, but it has a lot of other wonderful things to offer to those looking for the perfect town for their wedding.

Roskilde is less than an hour away from Copenhagen on the train, making it a great alternative for those that don’t want the long wait times of Copenhagen city hall, while remaining close to Copenhagen.

Roskilde is a pretty harbour town, with a lot of history, including its magnificent gothic cathedral!

Weddings are held in Roskilde on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Witnesses are provided by the town hall on Thursdays and Fridays only. If you wish to get married on a Saturday you must bring 2 witnesses with you

The town hall advises it can take up to 3 weeks for a response but it is often much quicker than this. Usually around a week, sometimes quicker but sometimes longer, depending on how busy they are. So our advice here is to remain flexible with your date as during the spring and summer months the response time does increase.

You can present your documents 10 minutes before your wedding ceremony at the Roskilde town hall.

The Look and Feel of Getting Married in Roskilde

There are in fact 2 locations when getting married in Roskilde. There is a bigger and more ‘modern’ style building and then an older, more historic building.

Of course the more modern building is more modern inside and the Old Town Hall much more of its time. But at both locations, while the exterior of each is very different, you will find kind and welcoming staff who are there to ensure you have the very best wedding day!

Weddings are held in the more modern style building on Thursdays and Fridays.

How To Get To Roskilde

From Copenhagen airport it takes just over 30 minutes to get to Roskilde by train

If you want to drive from Copenhagen, it will take only a little longer, just 50 minutes

What Can We Do While in Roskilde?

The cathedral in Roskilde is the jewel in Roskilde’s crown. It’s a magnificent building, over 1000 years old and with a history that oozes from every corner. The final resting place of many Danish Kings and Queens (40 in fact) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s impossible not to be seriously impressed when walking inside its walls. A must visit when in Roskilde.

Want to know more about the city you’re getting married in? Then take a visit to the Roskilde museum. A half a day spent here will tell you all the important things you need to know about Roskilde and its history. You can view important archaeological finds, old weaponry, skeletons, tombs and much more!

When in Denmark…. 😁Well, it would be rude not to, right? Visit this fascinating museum to learn everything you could want to know about Denmark’s Viking history, the way of life, the boats, the tools and how Vikings changed the world.

Take an afternoon out to dine on M/S Sagafjord. As you sit on the Roskilde Fjord, soaking in the lovely views!
