What: Christmas at Tivoli
Where: Tivoli Gardens
When: 17 November to 31 December
It’s our favourite time of year and if you’re in Copenhagen from mid November onwards, then spending a day at Tivoli will not be a wasted day. Christmas lights, stalls selling Gløgg (the Danish version of mulled wine), æbleskiver (similar to donuts) and ‘stocking fillers’ you might like to take home for your families. Definitely worth a visit to help you get into the Christmas spirit.
What: Santa Lucia Kayak Parade
Where: Copenhagen’s Canals – starting from
When: 13 December
If you are in Copenhagen on the 13 December, this is a local event not to be missed. Locals and (experienced) tourists alike, don their Christmas outfits, decorate their kayak with fairy lights and then kayak through the canals of Copenhagen. Christmas songs will be sung and mulled wine / gløgg will be drunk. Wrap up warm and bring your festive spirit, for this is a super way to spend a few hours!
What: Ice Skating
Where: Various locations in Copenhagen
When: Throughout December
It’s the stuff Christmas films are made of. You and your loved one, wrapped up super warm, donning the skates and zooming around an outdoor ice rink all in the name of Christmas. It’s such a Christmassy thing to do. There are several rinks located around the city, click the link above to see the map and find the once closest to you!
What: Christmas Markets

When: Throughout December
Christmas markets in Copenhagen are EVERYWHERE. Wandering this city’s magical streets in December is something everybody should do at least once in their lifetime. No country does Christmas quite like Denmark and Copenhagen’s Christmas markets are a huge part of the charm here.
