After deciding that Denmark is the perfect place for your marriage, gathering and organising your documents is the first practical, and crucial, step you will need to take.
Getting the paperwork right is one of the most important parts of planning your wedding in Denmark and getting it wrong can cause long delays.

Before you are able to book your ceremony in Denmark, the Familieretshuset (Danish Agency of Family Law or AFL for short) must approve your marriage application.
In short, here’s what you’ll need to prepare:

It is not possible to change your surname either at your wedding ceremony or afterwards in Denmark if you are not legally residing here.

Es gibt leider keine „offizielle“ Regel dafür, und es hängt tatsächlich davon ab, in welchem Rathaus Sie heiraten.
Manche Rathäuser erlauben dies, andere wiederum nicht.
