Located on the very western coast of Jutland, Ringkøbing is an historic Danish town, dating as far back as the 13th Century. Like a lot of Danish towns it boasts cobblestone streets, flat and stunning landscapes and because it’s on the coast next to a huge fjord, there are long stretches of golden sands and plenty of beautiful views of the water too – no matter the season!

Why Get Married in Ringkøbing?
As previously mentioned, Ringkøbing is one of Denmark’s oldest market towns and while it is a small town, it has a lot to offer; pretty streets, small courtyards, beautiful architecture, market squares, bustling atmosphere and stunning views – given its location on the Ringkøbing Fjord.
Ringkøbing is a great choice for those couples who love to travel and want to see a lot of Denmark while they’re here, especially for those who live in Germany and are happy to spend some time in the car, soaking up the Danish scenery along the way!
Weddings in Ringkøbing are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon, usually between 2pm and 3.30pm.
Witnesses are provided by the town hall as standard procedure on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at no extra cost.
The marriage office is usually pretty quick to respond but during Summer and near Christmas their response time can sometimes go up to 2 to 3 weeks. It should be noted that there needs to be at least 14 days between the date the marriage office received your approval letter and your wedding appointment.
Documents must be presented at least one working day before the ceremony to the citizen service office. The town hall prefers that the couple call in advance to make an appointment for the presentation.

The Look and Feel of a Wedding in Ringkøbing
The exterior of Ringkøbing town hall does not necessarily have the quaint charm of many of the other town halls in Denmark, however it was designed this way for a very specific reason, according to Bayarch.dk:
“Ice ripples often affect the area, which is why the building is designed with a significant base; this also works as plant bowls around the building. The roof canopies serve both as a towering weight on the building but also as sun screening.”
It is, however, situated right on the edge of the Fjord with stunning views of the water stretching as far as the eye can see.
Inside the town hall however, that gorgeous classic Danish interior design can be found in every corner. Simple, elegant and beautiful with incredible views from every window.
