Getting Married in Helsingør

Choosing Getting Married In Denmark to navigate the process of obtaining a marriage license in Denmark was the best decision. A couple of friends got married last year and recommended them to us, they also had a great experience with them and they had a trickier case than ours (non-EU couple, foreign divorce license...). Their website is very informative, you not only get the information of what to expect in the process, but their blog and articles were very useful to choose the city hall and to know what to expect on the day of the wedding. Once we got in touch with them, the whole team was kind, excited, and responsive. All the information they provided was accurate and easy to understand. We interacted with a few team members during the process and they all were familiar with our case and we felt we could trust them, they know what they're talking about and want to make it as easy as possible for the couples. In our case, it was mostly straightforward but we had a tiny setback when we submitted the documents and the team from Getting Married In Denmark went above and beyond to solve it. They took our planned timeline seriously and gave us all the information we needed to make informed decisions throughout the process. We married in the Copenhagen City Hall in July, in the end it was perfect with our timeline and travel plans, to have a few family and friends with us. We got beautiful flowers from one of the Getting Married In Denmark's vendors. If you're on the fence between either doing it yourself or choosing between companies to help you get the marriage certificate in Denmark, I would definitely recommend going with Getting Married In Denmark. Erma, Anke and the team supported us along the way and made a very bureaucratic process feel easy and manageable, sometimes you not only need someone to look over your documents but also to have a cheerleader on your corner. We chose the Essential Service and we felt we got all the help and support needed from the team, at no point did we feel like attention was being paywalled. You get the support and attention from first contact to after the wedding. Highly recommend to any international couples wanting to get married in Denmark.

Why Get Married in Helsingør?

Heslingør is another of Denmark’s wonderful towns that is a perfect example of why the Danes are such a happy nation of people.

It’s a beautiful coastal town with a long and proud maritime history. It boasts stunning and quaint Danish streets and offers vibrant and hugely popular cultural and historical attractions, the Helsingør Castle, Kronborg Slot, being one of them.

Helsingør is located to the north of Copenhagen, only a 40 minute drive or 55 minute train ride from the capital making it extremely conveniently located for those couples flying into Copenhagen’s Kastrup airport.

Witnesses are provided by the town hall free of charge on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you choose to get married on a Saturday, you must bring witnesses with you.

The marriage office’s official response time is approximately 2 weeks, however, it can be longer than this before they respond to date requests. There have been times where it has taken between 3 and 4 weeks to get a response! There must therefore be at least 3 weeks between the date you submit your request and the prospective wedding date. This makes Helsingør the perfect choice for couples who are not in a rush!

You can present your documents 10 minutes before the ceremony starts at the town hall.
