Describe your wedding photography style in less than 10 words.
My approach is very personal and all about the experience. It’s about immortalizing the essense of my couples in authentic storytelling build on real connections, raw emotions in a aesthetic documentary style, so you can rewind this day the way you felt and experienced it for generations to come!
10 words, there you go! (Atleast I tried)
How did you get into wedding photography?
My journey started years before I dedicated myself to weddings. It took me a few years where I was exploring various genres of photography, before I discovered this passion, and once I did, I felt like I truly found my purpose. It just felt right in the stomach! One day I decided to dedicate myself to it and became a specialized wedding photographer. Now I have been shooting weddings for +14 years. It have become a lifestyle honestly!
What inspires you as a wedding photographer?
What inspires me the most is definetely my couples! All stories are different and I feel such an inspiration when getting to know them and get to capture the raw essense of the people I photograph and what is truly meaningful for them on their wedding day.
What are you favourite types of places to shoot pictures of a couple?
Nature, for sure! I love to explore beautiful locations with my couples both when travelling the world, but especially on my home island Bornholm, which is rich with incredible experiences to be had in the nature – we have everything from scenic landscapes with dramatic cliffs, the most beautiful beaches, waterfalls, ruins and so much more! I love to guide my couples to the many experiences my island has to offer.
Which is your favourite picture of yourself and who took it?
Honestly everything in my childhood albums! I love to flip through them and rewind all the memories. It feels like a time capsule and is something that inspires my work as well when I can pass on this feeling of nostalgia and bring those memories to life.
What tricks do you use to help nervous couples relax for their pictures?
My personal approach and maybe my humor I’d say. I’m a very happy extroverted smiling and down to earth person, and I feel I’m a person people can be themselves with. I love to get to know my couples before their wedding to build connection and trust and also help to guide my couples with both their mindset and planning. Once we establish a safe space, it comes easy to be comfortable and enjoy the experience! I’d like to think myself as more of a friend than just another vendor.
What do you feel are the key things that make the perfect wedding portrait?
For me it’s the authenticity of the couple and the trust we build between us. These are the only key elements I really need to create together. The moments and emotions is what matters. The beautiful locations, flowers etc is really just a bonus! (And who doesn’t love to get a little creative with that)
What is your dream location for a wedding shoot?
That’s a tough question actually, as I love to travel! So of course I have some images in my head of places I’d love to shoot. My top 3 must be Iceland, The Alps and a castle wedding in Italy!
What do you like to do when you’re not working on photography?
My life is a wonderful blend of art and adventure. Some of my favorite things is travelling, making pottery and doing gardening in my allotment garden. Lately I’m working towards my next chapter; the incredible lifestyle that is vanlife as a travelling photographer. It’s all very exciting!
What is the most important advice you would give to your younger self just starting out it photography?
Honestly there’s much I’d love to teach my younger self if I had a time machine, but what this wild journey as an creative entreprenour who’s living out of the hamster wheel has taught me the last 14 years, the most important message must be the following: You can shape your life in so many directions and forms. If you’re willing to put in the work and expand your perception of things, life can be the way you wan’t it. Anything is possible. Don’t listen to people telling you that it’s unrealistic. It’s how you spend your time and energy that matters, so spend it wisely. Prioritize the things that build you up and make you happy and take some huge risks! Failing sometimes is a natural result of trying and is really just an opportunity to learn and grow.
