What is a Ceremony Upgrade Service?

Hier haben Sie die Möglichkeit, die Wartezeit für eine Standardzeremonie im Kopenhagener Rathaus durch ein Upgrade zu verkürzen 

If you’re hoping to get married sooner than the ‘standard’ availability at this town hall will allow, then this additional ceremony service will work perfectly for you.

Our Private Registrar Service offers you a ceremony outside of the standard wedding ceremony appointments at the City Hall which are sometimes booked up, weeks or even months in advance. 

By hiring a registrar, 

– you will have more chance of getting married on the date you wish, at shorter notice. 
– You can have a half an hour ceremony instead of 7 minutes (Only with Registrar Private Plus)
– Same day documentation presentation (except for Saturdays)  

We can only check availability and book your registrar once we have your application approval from the Danish Government. It’s important to note that private registrars can become booked up too. This is why we can’t guarantee specific dates. We recommend being flexible by a couple of days on either side.

How is it different from a standard town hall wedding at the City Hall?

At Copenhagen City Hall, standard wedding appointments are between 11:00 and 14:00. Within this time, there are a set amount of appointments available. These appointments are free to book and Copenhagen City Hall is popular amongst couples so their free appointment times get booked up quickly.  

If you’re flexible and book in good time it’s not a problem to be able to find a spot, but if you have a shorter time frame and you are less flexible, it can be difficult to find a free space.

Registrars can be hired to help you outside of these normal wedding hours so when all the standard wedding appointments are fully booked, you still have the chance of having your ceremony on that day.  

PRIVATE REGISTRAR AT CPH CITY HALL

Our Private Registrar Service offers you a ceremony outside of the ‘standard’ wedding ceremony appointments at the Copenhagen City Hall which are usually booked up months in advance, meaning it’s possible to get married at the City Hall earlier than if you were to choose a standard ceremony*. 

  • This service is available Monday – Friday, either around 10:00 or 15:00 (the standard wedding period is between 11:00 – 14:00).  
  • On Tuesdays, appointments can be offered throughout the whole day.
  • The ceremony is held outside the standard wedding appointment hours, but within the City Hall’s opening hours. 
  • The town hall is able to provide witnesses. 
  • For afternoon ceremonies, you are able to present your documents the same day. You must do this between 9am -1.45pm and no later than 2 hours prior to your ceremony time. 
  • If you are given a morning ceremony time, then the town hall asks that you present your documents 1 working day prior
  • Ceremony length 7-10m

 

Please be aware that there is not a fixed pattern with regards to what times appointments are available. It varies throughout the year based on demand, availability at the Wedding Hall, and the supply of registrars. 

*The confirmation of a ceremony is subject to availability and we always ask you to remain flexible with your date.

PRIVATE REGISTRAR+ AT A LOCATION OUTSIDE OF THE CITY HALL

With this service, you can get married at a location outside of the city hall, in the city of Copenhagen

  • Monday – Saturday at a location outside of the city hall, chosen and booked directly by you
  • Weddings held outside the town hall can be conducted in Danish or English only. If either of you cannot understand one of these languages, you MUST bring an interpreter, or the registrar will not be able to marry you.
  • Direct contact between the registrar & the couple (we pass your contact details onto the registrar and they will contact you when ready to discuss your ceremony). 
  • Witnesses are NOT provided by the town hall – you, the couple, must bring your own 2 witnesses if you wish to Hire a Private Registrar for a PLUS wedding ceremony held at a location outside of the city hall.
  • All documents for a Registrar Plus ceremonies MUST be presented one working weekday prior to the wedding ceremony (exceptions can only be made in extenuating circumstances).

*We cannot guarantee availability and always advise you to remain flexible with your date.

I could not recommend Getting Married in Denmark enough!!!

They are amazing people, who made the whole process smooth and relaxed for us with no stress. The conversations over emails were nice and informal which made it all the more relaxing and easy to communicate. Whether you're in a long distance like myself, or close distance relationship, they are perfect at handling it and making it all possible with no stress.

Everything is explained fully and clearly at the beginning, then you go onto picking where and when you'd like to get married, also collecting and sorting out documents. With regards to documents, they have to be strict to make sure those documents will get accepted by the AFL, but they make sure they're always professional and helpful with it. They want the process to be as swift and relaxing as much as you do.

Once the documents are all sorted, they'll help you getting a place to stay, recommended things to do during your stay and will check up on you to make sure everything is okay. My husband and I got married in Odense, which was a beautiful place that I would definitely recommend.

If you have any questions about anything, just ask and they're more than happy to help. They also respond within the same day, fairly often within the hour (with the exemption of out of hours and weekends which is completely understandable). Even after your married and the whole process is done, if you ever have any questions in the future, they're always there to help.

Before discovering Getting Married in Denmark, we had initially thought to sort the process out ourselves. Although possible, it's stressful and any mistakes can cost months in wait times with the AFL. This team are professionals at this and know exactly what they're doing, so would definitely recommend using them.

My husband and I would personally like to thank Manuel, Kamila, Serafina, Anke, and Erma for going through this whole process stress free with us and making us getting married a reality. You were AMAZING as I'm sure the rest of the team are. We would love to keep you updated on our future as we go from long distance for 5 years to finally living together.

We had a wonderful experience with the Getting Married in Denmark team. From the very beginning, they were incredibly kind, supportive, and responsive, making the whole process feel easy and stress-free.

We chose the Complete Service + Apostille service, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The communication and follow-up were excellent, and we received our marriage certificate with the Apostille surprisingly quickly.
