1st August- 31st August: Harbour Bathing

 Join the Copenhageners in this fun tradition of jumping / bathing in the harbour’s crystal clear waters at 2 designated sites in the city: Islands Brygge and Copencabana.

 

6th August – Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

UK soul rock group ‘Manfred Mann’s Earth Band’ will perform hits from their 30 album repertoire at Amager Bio in Copenhagen. 

 

6th – 8th August – Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix 2021

This will be the 16th event of its kind taking place, where classic cars and famous drivers will race each other in this historic motorsport extravaganza on the streets of Copenhagen!

 

8th August – Danish Derby

 This is one of the most prestigious events in the racing calendar! If you have a passion for horseracing then this is not to be missed. 

 

8th – 19th August – Copenhagen Summer Festival

Classical chamber music from both up and coming and award winning musicians will be showcased at this incredible and important classical event in Denmark. For lovers of classical music, this event is a must see!

 

12th – 22nd August – Copenhagen WorldPide 2021

WorldPride 2021 will be co-hosted in 2 cities in 2 different countries for the first time ever. 

Copenhagen, Denmark will be joined by Malmö, Sweden in presenting a WorldPride that will go down in history!

This year we will see concerts, lectures, mini-villages, shows, mini-festivals and marches that ensure this will not be a WorldPride that is forgotten in a hurry!   #youareincluded

 

18th – 21st August – Eurogames 2021

This LGBTQ+ inclusive, 4 day sporting event starts with the opening ceremony on 18th August, finishes with the closing ceremony on 21st August and features 29 sporting events in between! 6000 athletes will also walk and celebrate together in The Proudest Mile in the World. Not to be missed!!

 

19th – 28th August – Copenhagen Opera Festival

Whether you love opera or have never even thought about giving it a listen, this festival is sure to wow! The Opera Festival presents a line up featuring world class artists from the international opera scene.

 

20th – 29th August – Copenhagen Food Festival

 Copenhagen & food. It’s a match made in heaven! If you’re in Copenhagen this week, be sure to tantalize your tastebuds, attend workshops and experience quirky dining here at this festival which is nothing short of a gastronomic delight. Make sure you come with an empty stomach!!

 

22nd August – Copenhagen Iron Man

Test your strength, mentally and physically with the notorious Swim, Cycle & Run and see some of Copenhagen’s most beautiful sights along the way! 

 

23rd August – The Little Mermaid’s Birthday

Come and celebrate her 117th birthday with tourists and Copenhagers alike! She’d love you to be there, though we’re not sure if there will be cake?! 😉

 

27th – 29th August – Cultural Harbour Festival

This free festival will feature a host of attractions for everyone: music, dance, watersports, kayak tours and workshops. Come and check it out!!

ÆRØ IN AUGUST

1st August – 18th August: A Tale of the Ærø Beachhouses

Join local islander Allan Harsbo on a walk along the pretty and iconic beach houses that line the beach in Ærøskøbing. He’ll talk about the stories and history surrounding these colourful little huts. These talks will take place every Wednesday morning, 11am – 12pm and will last around an hour.  Booking is essential.

 

1st August – 14th August: The Market at Market Square

Every Wednesday 10am – 12pm and every Saturday 10am – 1pm throughout summer you can meander through the market square in Ærøskøbing, exploring what the locals have for sale. You might find your own perfect piece of Ærø to take home with you. 

 

1st August – 30th September. Classical Concerts in Søbygaard

The restored Manor House in Søbygaard hosts a number of classical concerts throughout the summer. 

 

1st – 3rd August – Beach Yoga at Vesterstrand, Ærøskøbing

 Bring your own yoga mat or borrow one for 25kr and experience a yoga class on beautiful Ærø. Every Tuesday and Friday evening at 6pm. Please note, these classes will not be run in adverse weather conditions. 

 

1st – 22nd August – Summer Hike on Ærø

Some believe Ærø has a very special energy, an energy that if you allow yourself to immerse in it fully is healing for the body and the mind. This hike takes you to all the parts of Ærø where you can experience and soak up the islands amazing energy. 

 

1st – 31st August 8pm – 9.15pm – Guard Tours on Ærøskøbing

 Ærø is a totally unique place, some even describe it as like something from a Fairytale, the town of Ærøskøbing especially. Take a tour with the guard to hear stories about this amazing town that include a little bit of history and a little bit of fun. Note, tours are held in Danish unless you specifically pre-arrange an English tour before hand. 

 

4th – 7th AugustÆrø Jazz Festival

Ærø is no stranger to Jazz! The sounds of Jazz have filled the air in Ærø for around 50 years with the Jazz Festival starting up in 1992. Here you will get a mix of both ‘classic’ and innovative Jazz. A must for all Jazz lovers amongst you!

 

7th – 8th August – International Ærøsøbing Small Boat Regatta

A celebration of all different kinds of ‘small’ vessels as they come together at Ærøskøbing Habour! A lovely sight to see!

 

27th – 29th August. Yoga Retreat with Ø Yoga

Come and take some peaceful time out for yourselves here at this stunning island yoga retreat. 

 

28th August – Peter Gast Regatta.

This is truly a sight to see as the harbour at Ærøskøbing is filled with boats competing in the German Peter Gast Regatta! You will see more than 100 boats with over a thousand people taking part!

RIBE & ESBJERG IN AUGUST

1st August – 31st August. The Night Watchman’s Rounds. 8pm & 10pm

Nearly every evening during the summer, the Night Watchman of Ribe does his rounds. In the days of old it was the Night Watchman’s job to keep the city safe, peaceful and to warn of impending dangers, such as flooding. While the police took over this job in the early 1900s, the Night Watchman was brought back as a tourist attraction in the 1930s.  The Night Watchman tours last 45 minutes and are free to join.  

 

1st – 12th August. Every Wednesday at 9pm. The Ghost Walk

Take a guided tour through the streets of Ribe stopping to hear eerie stories, dramatic historical events, royal murders and witch hunts that all took place in the old streets of this unassuming town!

 

1st – 29th August. Wunderkammer 3

 An exhibition exploring the beauty of science. What can be revealed from the finer details of DNA building blocks that lead this exhibition’s creators to ask questions such as “How can we relate to what we cannot sense? And how can we seek to understand the parts of reality we cannot see?”

 

18th August – A Bird Walk on the Wadden Sea

Every year millions and millions of birds migrating do so via the Wadden Sea here in Esbjerg. Learn more about these birds and bring binoculars, though telescopes will be provided. 

Note: A Coronapas is required to attend this event.

KOLDING IN AUGUST

16th August – What is a Human Being?

This lecture with Svend Brinkmann explores exactly what it means to be a human being in today’s ‘high speed culture’.  

 

19th August – The Johnny Madsen Band

 It’s been a tradition for nearly 10 years now that The Johnny Madsen Band performs at this event hosted by Godset. If you absolutely love rock and roll, then you’ll love this! 

 

21st August – Isam B in concert

Isam B tours Denmark with his new album ‘I Have Come to Denmark’. His songs and anecdotes represent lives, dreams and hopes of the ‘guestworker generation up to the present day’.

 

22nd August – Kolding Ultra Run

This is the city’s first ever ultra run. There are several distances that can be covered, depending on how much you love running!! Distances that will cover: 60km, marathons, half marathons, 5k and 10k. 

 

28th August – Fylke Festival.

A one day festival showcasing some of Denmark’s finest artists. The amphitheatre is made super cosy and as well as music, you can sample food and drink till your heart’s content.
