Interview with Jimmy Lind

Describe your style in less than 10 words 🙂

Old-school classic barber with a vintage look.

How did you get in to the barber industry?

I opened my own barbershop, Hr. Lind, after being a barber at various salons.

I wanted my own place with an old-school classic concept, where you can come in, get a beer and a glass of booze, get a nice cut and take a break from the everyday life. You know, a place where you can get man-wellness for a little while.

The shop opened in 2017 and since then, I have spent every day with what I love.

What inspires you as an artist?

I love the old-school and vintage look from the 1920-1940’s. This is where I get my inspiration, how I dress myself and how I decorated the room.

I get inspiration from old books, photo albums, music and journals.

What is your favourite thing about helping a customer?

The barber chair is the customer’s holiest place. Their home.

For me, it is essential that the customers feel safe and comfortable – otherwise, it will not be a good experience. I will give every customer a unique service.

I will always start our session with the customers wishes and ideas – and then open a dialogue where I offer my perspective based on experience and expertise.

Depending on hair, beard and head shape, there will always be different things to be aware of. But that will we discuss when you sit in the chair, so I can show you what I mean.

What do you feel are the key things that make the perfect look?

It is important that the style fits that individual, who sits in the barber chair.
All of that is again individually from person to person, which is why I work differently with all my customers.

Where in the world would you love to go one day?

If you can take me back to the 20-40’s, then do it! Tell me how?!

Else, I really want to visit Australia and New Zealand. Looks amazing.

What do you like to do when you're not working in your barber shop?

I am married with my wife, Mette, and we have two kids. I spend most of my time with them, looking for playgrounds and making Spaghetti Bolognese.

As described, I love the vintage look and style. So, I love to spend time on flea markets, searching for new vintage stuff for the shop or myself.

What is the most important advice you would give your younger self just starting out in this industry?

Follow your dream, Jimmy. Follow your dream.
