Fitting a board like this together took me some time and careful consideration. The renaissance spanned over centuries and its movement is complex.
When I think of the renaissance, I think of rich design, astounding arts and opulent luxury. Gardens with topiary and grand buildings also scatter my thoughts and for a bride who wishes to feel like a queen on her wedding day, I think this is the perfect style.
It’s true that there could be something quite gothic about this board, some may find that off putting and others may not. The more freshness you add in to it, the lighter it becomes, imagine, for instance, if I had placed fresh flowers there, instead of the painting by Ambrosius Bosschaert. At a wedding celebration in a grand historic building, light and bright flowers would reflect and bounce light around the room adding freshness to the antique surroundings.
This board contains some amazing works by some amazing creatives and it’s all together quite magical and haunting, my favourite combination.
