Louise and Mikael met in school in a little town where they grew up. Over twenty years later they met again and fell in love. On an ice cold day in winter and in the quaint little hideaway Gilleleje Badehotel, Mikael proposed to Louise.
We have the lovely honor of beautiful bride Louise telling us the story of her wedding day. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
The ceremony took place in the winter garden of Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen. The party was held in our small backyard, the menu had to reflect the casual theme so we opted for a barbecue menu prepared by Meyers Kitchen and lots of pink champagne and cocktails.
One of my dearest friends bought this dress in a vintage store in Copenhagen many years ago, because she couldn’t leave the store without it. I loved it from the moment I laid eyes on it, and my friend never had the opportunity to wear it herself. The skirt is a whispery thin silk chiffon in an old-rose blush colour, which happens to be my favourite colour. With nude lace inserts on the bodice and frilled edges. Very vintage, very romantic and very me. Being a gift from friends, I love it even more.
I am a flower fanatic and to me the most beautiful flowers are the ones you pick yourself. So I picked the flowers in my garden the morning of the wedding, without a specific plan or idea, but really just what I felt like. I wanted just a small bouquet of my favourite flower Lathyrus and tiny lilac Thalictrum. For my daughter I put together a wreath of pink & white garden roses, Ivy & thalictrum.
Wanting a very informal and non-traditional wedding it was very important for us that our photographer was someone really special and most of all to stay clear of traditional wedding photography. We knew Amanda Thomsens work, and instantly knew she had to take our pictures. No one else would do. We set the wedding date pending on Amanda being available. Amanda has a very special style that appeals to us very much, her pictures have an atmosphere and air about them, with a keen eye for the details that we love. And she is such a pleasure to be around. The wedding is over in a few hours, but the photographs are for ever, so getting the right photographer to document your day is of great importance.
We got married on a friday in august. It was really important to us both that we had a casual, informal celebration surrounded by friends and family.
