Interview with Tandem Weddings
Describe your wedding photography style in less than 10 words.
We are natural and candid lovers, we love capturing the essence of love. Simply by documenting moments.
How did you get into wedding photography?
The photography got us together since we were teenagers, and we became best friends.Basically by the age of 14-16 we took the cameras in our hands, took pictures until we felt we wanted more, and then we started to feel the taste of weddings. Little did we know that we will become a family one day.
And here we are almost 10 years after, doing everything in tandem, as a photographer and videographer (or both in the same time, sometimes).
What inspires you as a wedding photographer?
The couples we have in front of us. There is no amazing background for us, we just want to show up all the time with something different, to get the unique, their love, their natural feelings from each couple in front of us.
What are you favourite types of places to shoot pictures of a couple?
We always want to combine. Either by getting the architecture tour of the main highlights of the City we photograph, combining with a little nature and intimate spots, hotel room/lobby where our couples can get comfortable.
Which is your favourite picture of yourself and who took it?
We got invited to a beach photoshoot by Softy Brown (Germany), and I particularly love this picture because It was the moment where I realized what an impact photography has. I had the most stressful day and it ended on the beach, drinking wine, listening to music, dancing barefoot in the sand, for the first time in our lives. That was the moment where I realised the photoshoots itself are experiences. Where you empty your mind and live the moment.
What tricks do you use to help nervous couples relax for their pictures?
Communication. That’s the most important key. We want to be as close as possible to understand everything what our couples likes or not. During the day, we will put you to have your first dance in the middle of nowhere, or in the hotel room, we do a lot of natural activities that just make you forget that we are running behind you to get the best shots.
What do you feel are the key things that make the perfect wedding portrait?
Love, Laugh and natural light.
What is your dream location for a wedding shoot?
We don’t have a “dream” location in mind. We love to travel and to get challenged, one of the dreamiest wedding would be to document a whole destination wedding, from the moment the couples is coming to airport, until the plane is back in the air.
What do you like to do when you’re not working on photography?
We love gardening, we spend quite a lot of our free time at flower shops. A little more about us, we are wine lovers, cat parents, F1 fans. We enjoy the late night driving or the philosophic conversations on a terrace about life with a glass of wine. We basically don’t like to waste any second of our lives. You have together the “Mother” of any groups and the dad’s joke guy. We would love to meet you!
What is the most important advice you would give to your younger self just starting out it photography?
Have patience. The dreams are coming true.
