Peaceful, serene and elegant are just a few words that spring to mind when I think of a country house wedding. I think I can say that it’s one of my favourite types of wedding which is why it was such a joy to style this editorial. We were so excited to have a group of amazing collaborators working with us on this. Sølyst, a country house, favoured by the Royals and located north of Copenhagen, graciously provided us with a stunning setting. One of our select, wedding venues, Sølyst is perfect for that romantic mood, with an atmosphere that is so utterly pleasant. Other collaborators offered their designs of which came together harmoniously. A stunning sequin and beaded gown from Jesper Høvring, ‘Marina Daisy’ embellished Swarovski crystal peep toe shoes from Harriet Wilde and most likely one of the most romantic veils I’ve seen to date, delicately created by SIBO Designs. We cannot thank these amazing designers enough for their part in this styled shoot.
We were also very lucky to have our beautiful and sweet couple to model for us. Michaela is a model herself and her fiancee Tim, both are getting married this summer in Copenhagen. They met in London where they lived about 7 years ago and after Tim’s utterly romantic proposal, they began to plan their 2014 wedding. We’ll be hearing more about them in another article very soon!
Wedding Cake, wedding stationary, table decoration, styling, floristry and photography were all created by Gent & Beauty Bespoke weddings Our destination wedding planning company based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
My inspiration for this shoot was the English countryside and literature. I’m a brit based in Copenhagen and I wanted to mix this inspiration in with the historical architecture, landscape and houses of Denmark. The two can be very similar in the country and I find that the Scandinavian touch, like the one Rasmus brought in with his photography style for example or the historical house, can really work with the English elements to create an all together romantic and elegant outcome, with a more contemporary finish.
The garden was my main focus here. We’re in the warmest part of spring, a time where you can really smell the fresh young foliage warm under the sun. You’ll see as you look through this shoot that I brought the garden in to almost every element of the decor. I wanted there to be a continuation from the garden in to the stone and royal decor of the building and I managed this through the topiary and floral wedding cake and the moss and rose wedding decor of the table and making a distinct effort to involve more grasses and green foliage. I truly loved seeing everything come together and burst with life when infused with the glistening designs of our collaborators. Working with a real couple, who are so clearly in love just made the whole thing that extra special.
